Editorial Policy

Chess Bharat exists for one simple reason: to help more people fall in love with chess. Our only real goal is to popularise this game, so that anyone, anywhere, can get a genuine taste of what makes it so beautiful.

Why We Exist

Portals like Chess.com and ChessBase India have already done incredible work bringing chess to a global audience. They are a genuine inspiration to us, and we do not pretend otherwise. But India’s chess story runs deeper than what most global coverage has room for. Local players, forgotten games, and regional history often go uncovered simply because nobody has taken the time to dig for them. That gap is the space Chess Bharat exists to fill.

We are not trying to be a generic chess website. We do not want to publish the same 10 “how to castle” articles that already exist everywhere else, worded slightly differently. When we do cover a basic topic, we try to bring something real to it, a specific game, a verified historical detail, an angle nobody else has bothered to check.

Our Editorial Standards

Chess Bharat is run by Aayush, a FIDE-rated player (1468) with an online rating of over 2100. He started this site to bring more attention to Indian chess stories that nobody else was covering. Every article is researched carefully, checked against primary sources where possible, and personally reviewed before it goes live. This is not content handed off to an anonymous team with no connection to the game. It comes from someone who actually plays and understands chess, and who takes personal responsibility for everything published here.

Our Use of AI

We use AI tools as part of our research and writing process. This is not something we hide. AI helps us draft faster, check facts, and catch errors, but it does not replace human judgement. Every article is reviewed and edited by Aayush, before publishing, and we take responsibility for what we publish, not the tool.

Our Use of Images

Many of the images on this site come from Canva’s free stock library. Where we have permission to use a real photograph, we use it and credit the source in the caption. Others are AI-generated illustrations, created specifically for a piece rather than lifted from anywhere. We disclose which is which directly on each image’s caption, since we think readers deserve to know what they are looking at.

Design

We also use AI tools to help with parts of our design work, such as layouts, graphics and image editing. I, Aayush, direct this work, review the results, and approve them before they go live. The tools help us design faster. The tools assist us, and the responsibility for what we publish stays with us.

Corrections

Sometimes a fact needs fixing later, a wrong percentage, a mixed-up date, or a claim that turns out shakier than it first looked. When that happens, we correct it directly in the article. We do not quietly edit it away and pretend nothing happened. If the correction matters, we say so.

Questions or Concerns

Spotted something off, a stat that seems wrong, a name that is misspelled, a claim that does not hold up? Tell us. Reach out through our Contact Us page. We read every message, and we would much rather hear about a mistake from a reader than leave it sitting on the page uncorrected.
